Record rain and flooding put local emergency services on high alert over the weekend. Some suburbs were hit worse than others, as seen by the damage done on Argyle Street in Picton. Our thoughts go out to all those businesses and families effected.

Come Monday morning, we got on the phones to contact our dear clients to check on their safety and confirm meal deliveries. Some people from the Elderslie area were evacuated over the weekend but thankfully were able to return home safely, thanks to SES and local volunteers.

Once we confirmed all our Monday meal deliveries, we relied upon our volunteer delivery drivers to get themselves to our depot (which took hours!) and then deliver the meals around Camden, among detours and bumper to bumper traffic. This week has been testing to all our volunteers, our clients and staff. Everyone has gone over and above to show their support and understanding during difficult circumstances.

So… in case you were wondering, the floods did not stops us this week! Camden Meals on Wheels really is more than just a meal. We truly care for our clients and coordinate this service to make sure our community is well supported even in the toughest times.
