Camden Meals on Wheels received the Service Award for Innovation at the 2016 NSW Meals on Wheels State Conference (held 12th-14th October at Novotel Pacific Bay Resort, Coffs Harbour).
The NSW Meals on Wheels State Conference is held every two years and provides a venue to update its members on current research and development projects, as well as training its members on issues that are relevant to the sector.
Camden Meals on Wheels was one of three award winners at the State Conference Gala Dinner. It received the Service Award for Innovation, with its key programs being highlighted:
- Annual Centenarian Event; which is held in honour of Camden locals who have reached or will reach the age of 100 or higher during the year.
- Meal Mates; a companionship program that partners up local volunteers with Meals on Wheels clients.
- Little Corner Community Cafe; which is held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month, and includes morning teas, travelling, sightseeing and social events.
Manager of Camden Meals on Wheels, Gary de Jong said, “Receiving this award is a fantastic tribute to our hardworking volunteers and staff.”
This award follows a string of successful events that are helping to grow the success of Camden Meals on Wheels. Such as its recent re-branding and its National Meals on Wheels Day event which was attended by Member for Camden, Chris Patterson MP on 31st August.
